Economic History of Nottingham
Nottingham built its fortune in the 18th century in the textile industries, particularly lace making, and became a world leader. However, after the First World War, the industry went into major decline as Nottingham was unable to compete with competitive prices and sheer volume that were coming from the Far East and South East Asia.
